Castellabate
The village on the sea
The village of Castellabate, already known to lovers of the sea and wild nature, has attracted the attention of a wider audience, thanks to the hilarious success of the film "Benvenuti al Sud".
Castellabate, from "castle of the abbot" Costabile, of the abbey of Cava dei Tirreni, has a characteristic historical center from which it is possible to admire the stretches of beaches of its hamlets (S. Maria, S. Marco, Ogliastro Marina, Lago and Alano) as well as the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast.
Nothing more to add to the sea and its beaches: since 2009, the strip of coast between Punta Tresino and Punta Licosa has been a Marine Protected Area of ??Santa Maria di Castellabate in the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park.
The itinerary will include a visit to the Pontifical Basilica dating back to the 12th century, Piazza 10 October 1123 (set of the film) and the Castle of Abbot Costabile, from which it is possible to admire the panorama of the Gulf of Salerno and the stretches of beach in the hamlets.
