The Amalfi coast

The coast of the Gods
The stretch of coast that goes from Vietri to Positano is internationally known for its scenic beauty and its cultural value. In fact, since 1997 the Amalfi Coast has been included in the list of sites recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
The entire coast takes its name from the town of Amalfi which is located in a central position and which held the monopoly of trade between West and East. From this contact was born the characteristic Arab-Sicilian architecture, of which the Cathedral is an example. Of the other 15 municipalities that are part of the coast, it is worth mentioning Ravello, located in a panoramic position, with its two beautiful villas, Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo; Vietri sul Mare where the craftsmanship of majolica tiles is flourishing; Positano for its landscape known all over the world; Furore, with its small fjord and the Roman Villa of Minori. The roughness of the coast, high and jagged, has not prevented the development of activities related to the transformation of products, such as lemon, milk and fish, especially the anchovies of Cetara.
